Kavsak – Turkey Istanbul 2021

Kavşak Exhibition Turkey Istanbul

26 Jun 2021

Kavşak Exhibition opened on 26 June 2021 at Kelimat Sanat Galerisi, presenting a diverse group show that explored the concept of “intersection” (kavşak) through contemporary artistic practices.

Held in Istanbul, the exhibition brought together artists from different cultural backgrounds, each reflecting on moments of crossing—whether personal, social, or political. The works varied in medium and style, including painting, mixed media, and conceptual approaches, all engaging with themes of transformation, identity, and coexistence.

Among the participating artists was Aseel Azizieh from Jordan, who presented a large-scale artwork measuring 200 × 180 cm. Her piece, centered around the symbolic figure of a pig, challenged conventional interpretations and invited viewers to reflect on layered meanings related to perception, culture, and social narratives.

Azizieh’s work stood out for its expressive composition and bold visual language, using scale and subject matter to provoke dialogue and question boundaries. Her participation added a distinctive voice to the exhibition, reinforcing the idea of “kavşak” as a space where different ideas and perspectives meet.

The exhibition highlighted the role of contemporary art in addressing complex themes while fostering cultural exchange, further establishing Kelimat Sanat Galerisi as a dynamic platform for regional and international artists.
